One year while visiting Paris, my now husband and I had terrible jet lag. At 3AM we were wide awake. By 4AM we were out running the streets of Paris. Cafe owners quietly swept the sidewalk in front of the champs d'Elysees while observing us with a suspicious eye. The aroma of fresh baked bread engulfed us. The Eiffel tower was breathtaking in the just barely glimmeribg early morning light. It was a breath of fresh air.
fresh air has become a true luxury. While reading email or talking on the phone as your taking a walk, I challenge you to go outside completely unattached to any electronic device. You don't have to walk, although doing so will give you the double bonus of getting exercise as well. There is something inherently relaxing about unplugging from the world even just for ten or fifteen minutes. Beyond enjoying the fresh smell of the world after a spring rain shower or seeing newborn ducklings playing in the stream, even in the center of a city you can notice sounds you might not have before.
