A clever story with fun graphics, solid rhymes, and a small lesson, too.
Title: The Red Lemon
Author: Bob Stakke
What we love: Graphic designer, Bob Staake visually demonstrates that trying new things can reap its own benefits. With a delightful rhyme that drives the story, the author shares the story of Farmer McPhee who loved the lemons in his grove until he discovers the rogue "red lemon" on a tree. Without trying it, he tosses it far away where later a red lemon grove grows on an island and the "people cross oceans and seas, to eat the fruit from the red lemon trees." Beautiful to look at, fun with a touch of Dr. Seuss, The Red Lemon is a must have for a children's library. Enjoyed by one year old and up.
