C&C SV Hosting Diaper Drive: Please Join Us

While diaper cakes such as the one to the left may be the rage at high end baby showers these days, there are many women right here in the affluent Bay Area who can barely afford diapers for their children.  When long time Cubes&Crayons member Elly Phillips asked if we could do a diaper drive, we were eager to support the idea and hope both members of the Cubes&Crayons community and our local community will join us in helping low-income and homeless women and children in providing diapers and other basic hygiene products.

At Cubes&Crayons you will see the same great childcare staff week after week.  You may meet different people depending on the time of day you come, but we pride ourselves on a fantastic and consistent staff.  Meet three of the team here:

Cubes&Crayons SF: Kids' Night Out

It's time for the kids to get out on the town.  Toss the kids in their pajamas, bring a pillow and blanket, and get ready for fun!  Kids enjoy art, story time, pizza and snacks and fun games.  Parents go take a break - see a movie, have a long dinner, or just relax.  We'll see you at the end of the night:

When: June 25th (and every Fourth Thursday of each Month)
Time: 5:30 - 8:30pm (start early and use regular Cubes&Crayons childcare)
Where: 470 Carolina Street, San Francisco (enter through Recess)
Cost:

• Cubes&Crayons SF Members: $40/per child (additional child $7/hr)
• Recess Members: $45/per child (additional child $7/hr)
• General Public: $50/per child (additional child $7/hr)

Reservations: Email name,name(s) and age(s) of child(ren)  to contact[at]cubesandcrayons.com  Space is limited. 
50% Cancellation Fee
Reservations close Friday before event.

C&C SF Hosts Family Mixer: Happy Hour Meets Parenthood.

Wish you had a social night out with other families?  Want to meet members of the SF community?  Relax and have fun while your kids play.  Join other SF families for food and drink in a play space.

When: June 17th (and every third Wednesday of the month)
Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Where: 470 Carolina Street, San Francisco, CA (Look for the Recess sign)
Cost: $10 per adult for Cubes&Crayons members; $12 per adult for Recess members; $15 per adult to the general public.
Hosted by: Cubes&Crayons San Francisco (Potrero Hill)

SF Previews: Fun, Fun, Fun

Thank you to everyone who came out on May 27th to our new Potrero Hill location for our preview events.  A great time was had by all.  I could see the community building even as people toured and chatted and kids played.

C&C Reads: Yum!

 A simple shape book that looks at different foods that are the same shape.

What we love: This colorful book reinforces the simple concept of shapes with fun flipping pages.  Children enjoy seeing how the circle at one time can be a pizza and then next becomes an apple.  As one seeks a variety of ways to teach concepts, this is one more way to learn,  Great for 3 months to 30 months. Other books in the "flip-a'-shape" series include Play!, Colors! and Big Little!

C&C Reads: Bear's Picture

A beautifully illustrated story with the simple message of art being in the eye of the beholder.

What we love: Bear's Picture has gorgeous engaging illustrations as the protagonist bear paints his picture.  Confronted by two naysayers who suggest that parents can't paint, the bear proves not only his painting skills but his imagination to create an exquisite piece of artwork.  A fun piece of children's literature that is a welcome addition to any quality children's library.  Read aloud for multiple ages and especially engaging for 3 - 6 year olds.
